Vermont Yurt

Now it’s time to get into the details:

Post-Tax Income: $8,903

Is what it is.

Expenses: $3,246

This is one of the highest ever, but for good reason.

I paid $1,550 to upgrade from my 2001 F-150 with 230k miles that got 15 mpg to a 2012 Ford Transit Connect XLT that has 107k miles and gets 26 mpg.

More importantly I get to start my Campervan conversion dreams.

2012 Ford Transit Connect XLT

Going Out: $59.11

  • Whiskey Cake - $10.30

  • Boomberjacks - $9.65

  • Nachos - $6.16

  • Lorettas - $5.81

  • Chimys - $7.50

  • Martin House - $18.60

  • McDonalds - $1.09

Priority Pass - Free Food

Totally forgot to grab pictures of all my free priority pass food but there was plenty between Boston and Dallas which are two of my favorite lounge hot spots.

However, I did grab a picture of some free brunch we got at a fancy workout studio following a free workout. So don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t have avocado toast and retire early.

Avocado Toast

Groceries: $19.15

The catered food at work is the greatest perk

catered lunch

I do have to feed myself from time to time though so here are my grocery runs:

  • Target $3.73

  • Star Market $3.52

  • Stop n Shop $3.52

  • Stop n Shop $8.38

Bills: $934.00

Standard Bills

  • Rent - $837.50

  • Car Insurance - $49.32

  • Internet - $27.18

  • Spotify - $10

  • Gym - $10

Travel: $336.99

These are the expenses for this month but the big one is a prepay for August. It’s a Chris Stapleton and Jason Isbell show. I’m a huge fan of both and they’re playing at Wrigley Field in Chicago. I’ve never been to Chicago and I’m excited to get to experience another historic ballpark.

  • Pat Green / Randy Rodgers - $28

  • Airport Lyfts - $19.60

  • Chris Stapleton at Wrigley Field (Aug) - $289.39

V-day Yurt Getaway

For Valentine’s day this year we decided to rent a little yurt out in the middle of nowhere. It’s the one pictured at the start of this post.

It was one of the coldest days of the year but the yurt stayed toasty with the wood stove inside.

This picture below is of a “Cowboy Hottub”. This thing is just an old cast iron bathtub that you build a fire under. It’s really not much different than getting cooked in a cauldron I guess ha but it was a cool experience.

I didn’t get a good picture but they also had a nice wood heated sauna and provided us homemade mint tea. Overall a really cool and unique experience.

Dallas Dirty Thirty

Some people have years that are full of weddings. For me this is the year of the Dirty Thirty. Me and most of my good friends will be saying good bye to our 20’s.

We traveled down to Dallas and surprised my buddy TJ. His wife had setup the whole weekend including a party bus that took us out to a concert.

I will always be frugal but I’ll never let frugality get in the way of making memories.

Slopes n Scoops

We continued our quest to ski all of the New England Epic Pass mountains. This time we were at Stowe, VT and on the way back to our yurt, we took a stop and the Ben & Jerry’s factory.

It had been on our New England bucket list for a while now.

Ben n Jerry's Factory

Miscellaneous: $1,879.98

What? How in the world did I spend this much on the random category?

Well…I BOUGHT A VAN!!!!

I’ve been wanting to do a campervan conversion for so long and now the journey begins.

  • Van - $1,550 (The van cost $4,650 but I sold my truck for $3,100)

  • Van Tag - $304 (This included tax on the purchase of the van)

  • Home Depot - $20.48

  • Car Wash - $5

Gas:  $17

Not a lot of driving this month.

Big Picture: Net Worth Increase $20,954 to $458,752.17

Man things are on a roll as of February 2020… but it may not last long.

Haha writing this after the Corona virus has already hit is like trying to build suspense around a Titanic movie.

Will it last? Tune in next time!

I pitched in $5,657 while the market pitched in $15,297
